Tim Pells and Andrew Allen met at Colchester Institute where they were both teaching. They both came from Canada to the UK in the mid 1970’s to study guitar. Tim with Hector Quine at the Royal College of Music and Andrew with Gordon Crosskey in Manchester. The Pells Allen duo was formed in 2006 to explore the modern guitar duet repertoire. Featuring works by living composers, with particular reference to styles involving Latin and Jazz influences, the duo has performed in a number of interesting contexts. Their first public performance was in Colchester and featured the works of Vincent Lindsey-Clark, with whom the Duo have a close relationship.
The Duo are delighted to announce that they now perform on concert guitars by Bert Kwakkel.
